Grasso Comes To Town

Brian Grasso is in the process of moving
to Elizabethtown, KY.

It's funny to think that someone would
transplant from Chicago to small town
KY, but that's what he's doing.

I'm sure you're thinking 'WHY?'

Well, the IYCA is growing incredibly fast
and we have so, so many opportunities
that Brian decided it was in the IYCA's
best interest for him to be here working
with me and Nick on a daily basis to
make the most of the position we're in.

Just to give you a sampling of what
we have in the works:

::The launch of our level 3 certification
in the fall.

::The launch of our level 4 certification
in the winter.

::A complete training system for high
school athletic programs. (Think: an
alternative to Bigger, Faster, Stronger)

::A partnership with Functional Movement
Screen.

::Our first IYCA World Summit in February.

::A licensed youth fitness bootcamp.

::A division of the IYCA geared to serve
parents and families.

::Several other things we have in the works
that I can't really disclose just yet.

::The BIGGEST project of all - the launch
of our youth fitness franchise in 2009.

A lot of work.

But a lot of fun;)

So get ready to hear about some great
things coming down the pipeline with
the IYCA over the next several months.

And if you aren't IYCA Youth Fitness
Specialist certified yet, we've started
accepting people into the IYCA again.

http://iyca.org/fitspecialist1.html

Don't miss out on being involved in
the fastest growing segment of the
fitness industry.

Heck - maybe you can even come
visit all of us in Kentucky!

Have a great weekend!

Pat

P.S. - On Monday I'm going to tell you
about a trip to the dentist I had yesterday.

It was easily the best job I've ever seen
of a professional service provider doing
the type of relationship building stuff we
talk about.

In one visit they created a raving fan.

If they can do it - you can too;)

Working a Half Day

Today I'm doing just a bit of work in the
morning, going to the dentist and then
taking the rest of the day off.

Holly is going to Indianapolis to a
Maroon 5 concert with her sister so
Tyler and I are having a 'guys day'.

I have to say - this is awesome for 2 reasons:

1. I love hanging out with Tyler and am very
fortunate to have built (along with Nick) a
business that allows me the freedom to just
do stuff like take time to do what I want to
do.

We work hard - very hard - but now we do
the things we want to do and it's flexible,
and that's what we're trying to help other
fitness pros get to.

2. Tyler has soccer practice tonight - and while
I'm not coaching, I love youth sports (not necessarily
the way some parents and coaches approach it - but
that is another story) and watching kids develop.

That's a big part of why getting involved with the
IYCA was such a great fit for me. Isn't that what
they say - do what you love and the mo.ney will
follow.

I am passionate about young people, sports and
business.

I am not passionate about working with fat loss
clients and so I built my business career path to
take me away from that.

So as I enjoy my day with Tyler, I want to impart
2 things on you:

1. Build a business that allows you to live the life
you want - not a business that consumes your life.

2. Do what you love. Work with your ideal client.
Enjoy what you do.

OK - talk to you tomorrow!

Pat

P.S. - If youth fitness is (or might be) your passion,
make sure you get your IYCA Youth Fitness Specialist
certification before the price goes up $50 on Tuesday.

Learn From Their Mistakes

I'm not sure of you're familiar with the
franchise L.A. Weight Loss, but in short
they are a business with hundreds of locations
that has their own Weight Watchers or Jenny
Craig style weight loss system.

We'll their locations are going out of
business all over the country, and in most
cases closing without any warning to their
clients.

So how does a business grow so fast - to
hundreds of locations - and go under even faster?

Over promise then underdeliver.

They got completely unqualified people
sell diet programs, wear lab coats to try to
portray themselves as medical professionals,
then sell their clients over priced supplements
and pre-packaged meals.

So what can you learn from a company that,
in my opinion, is unethical and gives our
fitness industry a black eye?

If they can go out and get people involved
with a low barrier to entry offering ($9.99
per week in our market) then upsell them
into thousands in back end sales with an
unqualified staff and a pretty bad program -
you should be able to have great success
using a low barrier to entry way for clients
to do business with you then upselling them
once you have their trust.

You deliver the results these clients are
so desperately looking for - as opposed to
scam artists like L.A. Weight Loss. You
just need to be able to get them in the door.

So use the concept of a low barrier to entry
to get people in to know, like and trust you.

Then turn them into raving fans and life
long clients.

You'll help more people, make more mon.ey
and hopefully drive all the other scam artists
out of business in the process.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - After dozens of e-mails from subscribers
about Rocco's Ultimate Consultation System -
both people who bought it and love it and
others who wanted to see if I could pull some
strings and get him to give them a second
chance to grab it at the discount price - I
pulled it off.

You can only imagine how tough it is to get
a guy named Rocco to be a softie and offer
a second chance at a discont - but here it
is:

For my subscribers only he's offering the
Ultimate Consultation System at $29 for
the next 48 hours. No affiliate link or
anything - just a savings of over 50% if
you want it:

http://ultimateconsultationsystem.com/pat_rigsby.html

But do me a favor - if you want it, get it
now because I don't think I'll be able to
talk him in to this again.

Get In The Game

Back when I was a 23 year old college
baseball coach about the only thing that
I knew was that I didn't know much.

So the first thing I did was make sure I
attended the national coaches convention and
network with as many successful coaches as
would tolerate me.

I networked with a bunch of tremendously
successful coaches and before long several
of them were inviting me to come work
camps or visit their school and see how they
did things.

By my 3rd year our program had gone from
a laughingstock to nationally ranked.

All because I dove right in and asked questions,
built an incredible network of mentors and
didn't have to reinvent the wheel.

I see it all the time in our industry too.

The other day I was in the back office of
PTU and decided to check out who had made
the most posts all time. Here's the list in
alphabetical order:

Craig Ballantyne
Pat Beith
Chris Blake
Laurel Blackburn
Jason Brown
Alwyn Cosgrove
Geo Derice
Zach Even Esh
Brian Grasso
Susan Hill
Jim Labadie
Ryan Lee
Pat Rigsby

There are a lot of people who've built
mil.lion dol.lar businesses on that list.

Why? For a lot of reason I'm sure, but
one is that they didn't stand on the sideline.

They got in the game.

They got on the forum, built a network,
got their questions answered, shared their
knowledge and made their business dreams
a reality.

If you still needed another reason to join
PTU, that list should be enough.

If you are a member but not posting
regularly, hopefully that list will get you
motivated to hop on the forum.

See you over at PersonalTrainerU.com.

An Underestimated Success Factor

When I was a bit younger I had the same
training partner in both the weight room
and on the baseball field for about a
decade - Jeff Ramey.

It didn't matter if we were in the gym, the
batting cage or wherever - my results were
significantly better when I trained with him.

A.J. Roberts tells me that he thinks one of
the biggest reasons that the guys at Westside
are some of the strongest in the world isn't
just Louie Simmons' training system - it's
the atmosphere and competition.

My wife Holly's Club FYM just reached
2000 members and I'm 100% sure that
there are more people actively using her
Fit Yummy Mummy program than many
of the programs that have sold far more
copies. Why? The social support in her
online community keeps the women
motivated and on track.

That's why we took www.personaltraineru.com
to the next level of social support and peer
motivation with things like our Six-Figure 6
program. We knew that if members were
more active in the forum and were keeping
each other motivated as well as sharing their
own success - everyone would benefit more.

If you want to make your business all that
it can be you can't overlook social support
and peer motivation. That's why small group
training and bootcamps are so cool (one of
many reasons actually). There is a degree of
accountability, motivation and support already
built in with this style of training.

This type of environment will almost always
produce better results and keep clients more
engaged than a one-on-one type of dynamic.
And as a bonus - you make more too. How
about that for a win / win.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - Georgette Pann has an incredible e-book
on building successful bootcamps. I liked it
so well I even threw in a bonus. Check it out

The Truth About Olympians

The Olympics are coming to a close and
it seems like I'm about the only person
that hasn't written about them.

Strange really since I am definitely a big fan
of the Olympics.

In fact, way back in 1996 when I was a
young baseball coach I was invited to be
a member of the baseball support staff and
even got to lead the Afghanistan team into
the opening ceremonies as their Olympic
envoy.

Got to meet a few celebs 'back stage' and
have a couple photos with people like
Katie Couric and a ton of great memories to
boot.

I remember everything from being downtown
during the Centennial Park explosion to
fielding fly balls during the Cuban team's
batting practice. Hanging out in the Olympic
Village - A lifetime worth of memories crammed
into a few short weeks.

But the two things that I remember most about
the athletes then are the same things I was
reminded of when Jim, Nick and I watched
Michael Phelps, Dara Torres and the others
on TV while we were in Utah:

:: Olympic athletes are willing to do the work.

:: Olympic athletes love what they do.

It seems simple, but when you put those two
together you have the magic formula for
greatness.

You don't reach the top of your field, be it
baseball, swimming, sprinting or performing
in any other sport without being willing to
work harder than your competition.

And you don't commit that amount of time
and effort to something unless you love it.

It's no different in what you do.

If you want to climb to the top of your
profession you need to love what you do
and you need to be willing to invest the
time and effort to get there.

So if you haven't already, make sure you
take a little time to appreciate the athletes
in Beijing and what they've invested to
get there.

Then model that sort of commitment in
your own endeavors. It's a surefire path
to the top.

Have a great weekend!

Pat

P.S. - Did you notice that Olympic athletes
all have coaches? It's one of the key's to their
success and is one of the keys to yours as well.

Let me, Jim, Nick and the rest of the PTU
faculty coach you to achieve your own success
by joining PTU for only a buck:

Lunch With the Marketing Guru

Last Saturday when Jim, Nick and I were
at Send Out Cards convention we spent
some time with one of the best marketers in
the world, David Frey.

We were at lunch Saturday discussing a few
things we are working on with David
(pretty exciting since he's one of the guys
I really look up to in the world of marketing)
when he grabbed my legal pad I was taking
notes on to draw a diagram to illustrate
something for us.

Well, after he was done drawing the diagram
he flipped back to the first page of the pad
and decided to start reading. I explained to
him that the notes on the first couple of
pages were about the IYCA and the youth
fitness franchise we'll be launching in 2009.

Immediately David switched gears and wanted
to start talking youth fitness.

He told us over and over what an incredible
market he thought youth fitness was and that
this seemed like it had the potential to be
HUGE.

Needless to say I was pretty excited to hear
this coming from one of the top business and
marketing experts in the entire world.

He said he thought the youth fitness market
was 'ripe' and that getting in early would
almost certainly lead to huge success.

Heck, if we had the franchise ready to go I
think he might have bought one on the spot.

So, if you've ever considered youth fitness
or youth sports performance as a market
you'd like to get into, David Frey reaffirmed
what we've been saying all along - now is
the time.

We've re-opened the IYCA Youth Fitness
Level One certification, so you now have
access to the perfect place to start:

Have a great weekend!!!!

P.S. - If you're going to the Ryan Lee Bootcamp
and have already purchased the Youth Fitness
Specialist certification, we have something
cool in store for you.

Another Simple Way To Generate More Sales

OK, so yesterday we talked about generating
more sales of bigger packages and reducing
choices to simplify things for the prospect.

Here's another easy tip to closing more
big sales.

Get small commitments first.

There was a time in my personal training
career that I'd average three closed sales
a day.

Many trainers don't do 3 a month.

But the trick was to close the ones that
weren't ready to commit to bigger
programs on something.

Or, if I was doing a speaking engagement,
close the attendees on something small.

Get a 'yes' first.

Once someone has invested a little with
you it's much, much easier to get them
to invest more.

But only if you deliver great service during
that initial purchase.

So if you're having trouble getting people
to enroll in 'big ticket' programs, get them
to at least invest in something small first.

Then after you've built a little more rapport
and have delivered great service and value,
present your bigger offerings.

You'll be pleasantly surprised at how little
resistance you get then.

Dedicated to growing your business,

Pat

P.S. - Sales systems, marketing systems,
semi-private training systems, operations
systems...they're all covered (along with
a bunch more) right here:

Selling Bigger Packages

Want an easy way to selling bigger
deals?

It's two simple steps, but I'm not sure
you'll believe me if I tell you.

Here goes:

Step 1: Offer no more than 3 potential
options to a prospect. Something like
this:

1 Session Per Week
2 Sessions Per Week
3 Sessions Per Week

It could be 2, 3 and 4 or 3, 4 and 5...
makes no difference to me. You know
what you're currently selling. Just reduce
it to 3 options.

Step 2: If you're most popular program is
2 sessions per week but you want to sell
more 3 session per week packages, add a
package bigger than that to your price sheet.
If you already have:

1 Session Per Week
2 Sessions Per Week
3 Sessions Per Week

Then switch to offering:

2 Sessions Per Week
3 Sessions Per Week
4 Sessions Per Week

You'll immediately sell more 3 session per
week programs.

It's all simple psychology. Too many
choices have been proven to cause
indecision and high priced offerings
make offerings priced lower seem more
reasonable.

That's it...two easy steps to more sales bigger
packages and programs sold.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - One more day. We're holding

2008 Raving Fans – Part 2

As a continuation to yesterday's e-mail when I
shared several business lessons I picked up
on our trip to the Send Out Cards National
Convention, here are a few more things I
picked up and how you can use them in
your business:

:: Continual improvement.

Personally, I thought SOC had a pretty awesome
System - that's why we bought it in the first
place. But as a means of providing better service
AND (this is important) keeping their group
Excited, they continually add new features,
offerings and systems. You should think of
ways to do this in your own business to keep
your clients and staff as excited as the day they
came on board with you.

::They have a great story.

The founder, Kody Bateman has a compelling
story as to why he started SOC. Everyone
loves stories as it gets them emotionally involved
and helps them relate to the people behind the
business. One of our Trainer's Inner Circle
stars, Ben Wartsler is getting ready to use this
approach with an e-book he's launching:
Former Fat Kid.

Think people will be able to relate with that
and the copy he uses to market it? Holly did
the same with FYM. When you find your niche,
make sure you have a story or message they can
relate to.

::Consistently soft selling.

Throughout the event they were building
value in getting people to send more cards,
get more people involved with the business
and even attend next years convention. Not
once did it ever come of as 'salesy' but I
guarantee it will generate a TON of business
for the company. You should always be
building value in your other offerings as
well - talking about the benefits, sharing
success stories, etc.

::Over Delivering.

There is no way anyone left the conference
without feeling they did a first class job in
every area of the entire event. They hit the
proverbial 'Home Run' as far as Nick, Jim
and I were concerned. The wonderful thing
is this will keep people excited about SOC,
motivate them to achieve their goals and
undoubtedly improve retention and referrals.
It goes without saying, but every day you
have the opportunity to keep your clients
excited about you and your business...make
sure you do.

I could go on and on...I called Holly and
rambled on for an hour about how some of
the stuff I was taking from Send Out Cards
and this event would apply to Fit Yummy
Mummy...and probably only covered half
of it.

So take these lesson and use them for your
own business...but also remember to apply
this same mindset when you visit a business
or an event. Learn from them and see how
you can improve what you do by taking
some of what they do.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - Remember, we'll be holding a teleseminar
tomorrow night to introduce the Six Figure Six to
PTU members- so if you want to take advantage
of this tool which is FR.EE to all PTUers, make
sure you join before the call!

2800 Raving Fans

Jim, Nick and I just wrapped up 5
days in Utah at the Send Out Cards
national convention and we're sitting
in the airport recapping the past few days.

I must admit, I was really skeptical
when we scheduled this trip. I was
sure that we'd make some progress
on PTU and learn more ways to help
the trainers we work with use the Send
Out Cards system more effectively to
grow their businesses, but I was kinda
worried that the SOC convention would
turn into a giant pep rally.

I was dead wrong.

Well, sorta - at least.

We did get tons of stuff done for PTU, so I
was right about that.

But the Send Out Cards convention was
one of the better business education events
I've ever attended, so here are a few takeaway
points you can use:

::Social proof should be a bigger part of every
business.

People want to see people who've been
where they want to go. Collect tons of testimonials,
before and after pics and success stories.

::Recognition is a REALLY powerful motivator.

We watched dozens of standing ovations for
people's accomplishments and saw almost 3000
people either striving for public recognition or
basking in it. Make sure you're recognizing your
clients every chance you get...the loyalty it will
build is enormous.

::People need a 'carrot.'

One of the best strategies SOC and many other
direct selling companies use is having tiers that
you move through by reaching certain performance
benchmarks. Martial arts does the same with the
belt system. I'd suggest that you make sure that
you set intermediate goals for your clients so they
can reach certain benchmarks to reinforce their
successful behavior.

I'll have several more 'takeaways' tomorrow that
you can use to help building your business
immediately.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - Not only have we put together the best group
of trainers in the world on PTU - and assembled
almost 1200 bucks worth of gifts for joining...but
this week we're also announcing a Six-Figure Six, a
daily / weekly 'to-do' action plan you can follow to
turn you into a six-figure trainer. We'll be holding a
teleseminar to teach PTU members how to use this
system Wednesday night - so if you want to take
advantage of this tool which is FR.EE to all PTU
members, make sure you join before the call!

If you aren't a member of PTU yet, join NOW for $1.

The Secret To Marketing

The secret to marketing that most gurus,
authors and professors miss is this:

Internal marketing is at least 2X as
important as external marketing.

I'm almost convinced that it's 4-5X
as important.

If you focus on internal marketing you:

::Improve retention

::Generate referrals

::Can maximize the lifetime value of
your clients

::Can reactivate past clients

::Open doors to JV's, Strategic Alliances,
speaking engagements, partnerships,
corporate fitness opportunities and much
more.

It's often written that acquiring a new client
costs anywhere from 3-10 times as much as
keeping a current one.

So with all these benefits that internal marketing
offers, what % of your marketing budget and
time spent on marketing goes toward the people
that you already have relationships with?

Take those 2 numbers and double them.

I'd almost guarantee that you double your
business as a result.

Dedicated to growing your business,

Pat

P.S. - If you want everything you need to become
an expert marketer - from done-for-you letters to

Off to Utah

Today Nick, Jim and I are heading off
to the Send Out Cards national convention
in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I've never been to Utah before so I'm excited
to see somewhere new.

But more importantly, I'm excited to learn
more about how we can grow the Send Out
Cards part of our business.

Nick and I had used the SOC system in our
club and training company for a long time
and loved it.

Our clients and members did too.

After about a year of using the system we
(along with Jim) started introducing it to some
of the trainers we had relationships with.

Before long we'd introduced the system to
people in a variety of different industries...

...and started to generate a nice additional stream
of revenue from it.

So we're going to practice exactly what we
preach.

We're going to invest in our education and
go learn as much as we can about how we
can use the system in our businesses more
effectively and also how we can increase the
amount of revenue it generates for us.

We're just like you.

We want more clients.

We want to keep them longer.

We want them to spend more with us.

We want additional streams of revenue.

So we do the same things I hope you're
doing:

::Investing in our education.

::Investing in our marketing.

::Looking for ways to improve.

::Networking with like minded people.

There is no magic formula. The same
stuff I tell you is the stuff we're doing
right now.

We're doing it because it works, so make
sure you're doing it too.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

Happy Anniversary

Today is Holly and my 3rd wedding
anniversary.

Later this month is the 3rd anniversary of
the grand opening of our health club.

Needless to say, I feel pretty lucky.

I have a wonderful wife and several pretty
cool businesses.

But a little more than 3 years before that
I had just resigned my coaching job, not sure
what I was going to do - just knowing I wanted
to own my own business and do something I'd
enjoy.

I was single.

Unemployed.

Moving to a city where I knew no one.

Not sure exactly what I wanted to do.

I had some vague ideas...

...and a TON of motivation.

I'd just turned 30 and was determined to
achieve several pretty lofty goals by age
40.

I wanted to own my own successful
business (wasn't sure what just yet).

I wanted to find a person to share my
life with and start a family.

I wanted to become a mil.lionaire.

Well, 6 years later we'll just say that
I feel as if I'm well ahead of schedule.

So trust me when I say that no matter
where you are, you're a lot closer to
where you want to be that you might
think.

Have a great day!

Pat

of you're goals, you'd better belong to

Give Yourself A Raise

This is going to seem so simple you're
gonna laugh.

I was talking to my dad Friday and we
were discussing his business.

He was telling me that he raised his hourly
rate five bucks (he wouldn't admit it was
my idea) and not one person had even
blinked.

So I asked 'what would happen if you raised
your prices two more dol.lars an hour? Would
anyone notice?'

He said he doubted it.

So let's do the math:

If he bills 60 hours per week:

$5 per hour added to his hourly rate means
$300 per week.

That's $15,600 per year.

Just $2 means another $120 per week.

$6240 per year.

Could you use an extra 6K per year?

How about 15K?

What if you did what my dad is going to do
and raise your prices $7 per hour?

Almost 22K per year to your bottom line.

Ask yourself...is there even one client you
train that would balk at an additional 2, 3 or
even 5 bucks per session?

Probably not.
So do this...announce this week that you're
raising your rates by 2 bucks per session effective
September 1st.

You just gave yourself a 3-6K raise depending
on your number of weekly sessions.

Congrats;)

Pat

biz product on the market for less than ten bucks.

When you have questions…

..about building your business who do
you talk to?

Having a network is probably the most
powerful way to grow your business.

A network provides you with informed
people to bounce ideas off of.

A network provides you with ideas to
grow your business.

They can offer direction if you're looking
for a vendor or a product.

At a higher level, they can be mastermind
group partners, JV partners and even business
partners.

For us it's often been the difference between
struggle and success.

If I have an information product question, I ask
Pat Beith or Craig Ballantyne.

A youth fitness question...Brian Grasso.

A health club question...Curtis Mock.

A search engine question...Chris McCombs.

For publicity or sales or marketing, I go to
Jim Labadie.

If I'm wondering about the supplement industry,
I ask Damon Moschetto or Jayson Hunter.

If I want to talk business systems or program
design, I'd ask Alwyn Cosgrove.

And obviously...any business question can
go to Nick Berry too.

By leveraging my network I am able to move
faster, avoid mistakes and take advantage of
opportunities I couldn't have otherwise.

Your network is THE difference between you
struggling along, often trying to re-invent the
wheel...or getting on the fast track to success.

Well, I've got some good news for you:

My network also belongs to PTU, so you can
leverage them just like I do by checking out
their content and, even more importantly, asking
them questions on the forum.

So if you're ready to jump on the fast track,
join PTU for just a buck today.

The Magic of Thinking Big

There really is magic in thinking big.

I first heard about the book The Magic of Thinking
Big when I was reading a book by Lou Holtz, the
former college football coach.

He'd just been fired from his job as an assistant
at the University of South Carolina (1966 I think)
and his wife bought him the book as a gift to
lift his spirits.

In the book it recommended to make a list
of all the things he wanted to accomplish in his
life.

So he went about making his list and started
with many of the things we might all list:

::Be a good spouse
::Be a good father

But he also added professional goals like:

::Win a National Championship
::Be national coach of the year

Remember, he'd never even been a head
coach before...

Then he got to his 'fun' goals like:

::Being on the Tonight Show
::Meeting the President
::Jumping out of an airplane
::Running with the bulls

In all, Lou had 108 goals on his list.

He showed it to his wife and she mentioned
he might want to add one more:

::Get a job;)

Make it 109.

Well, at last check Lou Holtz had accomplished
102 of his 109 goals.

He's met Presidents, won championship and
awards...he's jumped out of a plane and been
on the Tonight Show.

Not bad for a guy that was unemployed when
he made the list.

So, when you're mapping out your future
don't be afraid to think big.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

make more and work less. If you're not part

73% Are Poor

I was reading some information club industry
had put out the other day and was amazed by
the fact that 72.6% of trainers make less than
30K per year.

What amazed me even more is that they
haven't done anything about it...but that is a
different point for a different e-mail. Instead I'm
going to share 5 foundational keys that every
fitness business MUST have in place:

1.Quality Service: I'm not going to talk about this
here because if you don't have this the rest doesn't
matter.

2.Leverage: You can't make it big training one on
one 12 hours a day. Even if you do earn some
mo.ney you'll burn yourself out in no time.

3.An Understanding of Your Strengths: this is
overlooked by 99% of trainers. You get bogged
down doing stuff that is not your strength and high
ROI activity - stuck doing low productivity tasks that
suck the life out of you!

Does this sound familiar at all?

Why?

Well, first of all...it's because no one has ever (except me)
given you permission to "FOCUS on the things that
make you the biggest MO.NEY...and that You ENJOY!"

Then go out and put people with strengths in all the
things you HATE doing...BUT (And here's the key) they
LOVE doing!

That's the basis of all of Nick and my businesses.

4.A Vision: This is actually the first key and I won't
spend a ton of time on this, because if you're like the
73%...you are in SURVIVAL mode. You must get
enough mon.ey in the door so you can relax, step back
and work ON your business.

But do remember this - your vision is that light at the
end of the tunnel that forever drives you.

The more you do right, the brighter it gets.

5.Great Systems: That's the difference between a
business and a hobby.

No systems mean you are going to be permanently
stuck on the fitness business treadmill: you feel like
you are working day to day...and it's never going to
end.

So put those 5 foundational keys into action and
make sure you're earning 20-30K per month
instead of 20-30K per year.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

Are you too busy?

Yesterday I talked about the two questions I get
the most:

1. How do we keep growing?
2. How do I juggle everything?

Today I'll do my best to answer number two.

Right now, some of the things we are doing:

:: Re-Launching PTU
:: Developing 5 information products
:: Getting ready to launch Holly's DVD of
the month
:: Going into our busy season at the health club
:: Wrapping up a book
:: Working on 3 different start ups
:: Getting ready to launch a franchise

So how do I juggle all this stuff?

1. I work with great people. Nick is the best
at what he does. Brian Grasso is the best at what
he does. Jim Labadie is the best at what he does.
And Holly is the best at what she does.

Surround yourself with great people and
everything becomes easier and more profitable.

One of the biggest things we've done in the
past year to help us grow was bring A.J. Roberts
onto the team. He alone has probably doubled
the rate at which we're able to grow several
aspects of our business.

Is there someone you could bring on that could
have the same effect for you?

2. I work in blocks. I block off time to do what
I need to get done. I don't think about all the
other stuff and let my mind drift. I start working
and get it done. Then move to the next item.

3. I create takedown schedules and put the dates
on my calendar. In fact I've become somewhat
notorious for this and am now helping a couple
other people with similar workloads do the same.
That's basically the way we get each individual
project done. A must for efficiency.

4. Cheap tools. I use a Franklin Covey Planner,
Google Docs and Calendar, a dry erase board, a
120 day at a glance wall calendar and a legal
pad. The google calendar travels everywhere.
The dry erase board and 120 day calendar give
me a big picture overview. The planner has
my 'to do' list and Magic 100 goals and google
docs holds my takedown spreadsheets.

Cost: 75 bucks. Value: priceless;)

5. I love what I do. There isn't a day I don't
look forward to 'work.' Makes doing all this
much easier.

So there is my answer. I hope it helps.

Dedicated to your success -

Pat

P.S. - If you haven't grabbed your $1170 worth of
gifts at PTU, what are you waiting for?

http://www.personaltraineru.com

In fact, toady I added 2 more ready to use tools:
A referral request survey and a trainer / client
partnership form. Just some of the great
resources you'll find over at:

My Secrets To Business Growth

The 2 questions I seem to get asked the most
are:

1. How do we (Nick and I) keep creating new
opportunities and growing our businesses?

2. How do we 'juggle' managing several
different businesses and dozens of separate
projects simultaneously?

Well, today I'll answer question number one as
best I can and tomorrow I'll tackle number two.

The key to our success in growing businesses
and taking advantage of opportunities primarily
hinges on three things:

::Building a powerful network. Virtually all
of our current projects have stemmed from
developing relationships with people in our
network and teaming together to develop an
idea into a business or a product.

::Studying. We are constantly reading, listening,
researching and studying to find ways to grow
our current businesses or capitalize on new
opportunities. Nick spent Saturday with a
billion.aire (yes, with a B) learning about an
opportunity we've been considering for a while.

::Taking action. When we get an idea or an
opportunity we work fast to make it happen. If
we don't it gets pushed to the back burner and
most likely lost among the many new things that
come our way.

Obviously there is more that goes into it that these
three things, but they are clearly the foundation
of our growth. I suspect they will be for you too.

If you're interested in growing your business and
uncovering new opportunities - our latest project
is something you are going to want to be a part of.

Along with Jim Labadie, Nick and I have taken
over Personal Trainer University. For all 3 of
us - and hundreds of others - it was a breeding
ground for much of our success, so we've decided
to re-launch it so you can reap the same type of
benefits from it that we have.

We've given it a new look, added some incredible
new content and lined up a faculty made up of
some of the most successful fitness pros in the
world.

Because we want you to see how incredible the
new and improved PTU is and how it will affect
your business, we're going to let you try it out
for 30 days for only a buck.

One buck.

Plus we've amassed over $1170 in gifts for you
when you take advantage of this limited time
trial offer.

So get over to PTU and start on the path to
working less and making more...and grab
your bonuses before they're gone.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

An Interview With Dax Moy

adsdsf,

Here is an interview that I recently did with Dax
Moy. For those of you who don't know Dax or don't
know much about Dax - he is one of the most
accomplished and successful fitness professionals
in the world today.

He'll talk a little bit about what he's achieved
during the interview - but he's very modest so
I'll tell you this: If there was someone in this
industry that I'd want to follow in the footsteps
of - it would be Dax.

What I didn't know until recently was that Dax
followed a specific goal achievement program to
achieve his vast array of successes - The Magic
100.

http://www.fitnessconsultinggroup.com/magichundred.html

He has let his clients in on this extraordinary
program with great results - and recently made it
available to the public. I wanted Dax to be able
to tell you more about this life-changing program
- so here's what we discussed:

1. Dax, can you briefly tell me what The Magic
Hundred is?

The MAGIC Hundred is quite simply a system of
action steps that allow a person to go through
the entire process of goal creation in a logical,
systematic and results-oriented fashion which, if
followed, will create success 'hits' day in, day
out for 100 days.

It is quite unlike anything else on the personal
success 'circuit' at the moment in that rather
than focusing only on positive thoughts, it asks
you to commit to positive actions daily until
they become habituated. It is this combination of
thought, word AND action that allows those
utilising the MAGIC Hundred program to achieve
amazing, almost impossible things in so short a
space of time.

Through the book, the 2 audios and the 100 daily
emails, the program keeps you focused on your
goals (thoughts become things), helps you to
maintain a positive attitude toward their
achievement (Your attitude determines your
altitude) and holds you accountable to yourself
through a series of questions that need to be
answered every day.

The result is, I believe, one of the first
systems that guide you, motivate you and support
you for the entire journey that you've embarked
upon. In this case, 100 days.

2. How has implementing the Magic Hundred in your
life paid off?

The MAGIC Hundred has changed my life completely!
When I first created the system and told my
colleagues about it they told me I was nuts. They
said that I had set myself goals that were
unrealistic, out of my reach and sure to end in
failure.

One hundred days later I owned my first studio,
the car of my (then) dreams, had nearly tripled
my income, was published in national press,
presented my first seminar and so many other
things that I can't even remember now.

In short, 100 days after writing my 'impossible'
list, I had achieved 86 of those things and in
doing so had changed my life forever. The MAGIC
Hundred has since helped me appear on every TV
channel in the UK, hundreds of publications
worldwide, open 3 studios, travel the world and
stay in luxurious and exotic locations, live in
the outback in Australia with my family for 1
month, freefall onto the Great Barrier Reef with
my 15 year old daughter, fly aeroplanes,
helicopters and, I know this will sound corny but
it's true, live the life of my dreams. And I
don't mean that in some vague way.

I mean, I literally dreamed of these things
happening, I wrote about them, I visualized them,
I spoke about them to anyone who would listen
and... well... I now live them!

3. I understand that you use this program with
your studios' clients. Can you briefly explain
the premise behind that?

The 'danger' time for failing at ones goals is
within the first 6 weeks or so of commencing a
new behavior.

For example, when clients start with a trainer
they're being asked to change how they eat, how
they drink, how they move, how they sleep etc.
The trouble is, all of these things are
habituated behaviors. They are governed by the
subconscious mind and as such, are passed into
the autonomic (automatic) centers of the central
nervous system where the programs related to
these events and activities are run
automatically. Great for freeing up mental energy
but awful if those behaviours are opposed to the
desired outcome.

The MAGIC Hundred short circuits this programming
by asking for conscious thought about many areas
of life related to your goals and enables a new
program to be written. One that is more conducive
to the stated goals.

This isn't just idle speculation. I have seen
this truth hundreds, if not thousands of times
with people who had tried and failed to stick to
their nutrition or exercise plans or other
lifestyle changes who after 100 days are not only
committed to their results but self-programmed
into them too.

4. What can a fitness professional expect by
utilizing the Magic Hundred program?

Well, the results will be two-fold. First, any
fitness professional utilizing the program will
see an increase in productivity, income and
purpose as they find a way to re-kindle their
passions for life again.

If this sounds a little over the top, it's not.
Abraham Lincoln once said "You can't help the
poor by becoming one yourself" and not only do I
agree with him, but I expand this poverty and
wealth consciousness to all areas of life.

Many trainers are lacking any real motivation in
their own lives due to long hours, low pay and
goals that they really don't believe will come
true for them. How then can they with an honest
heart, charge money from others for providing
'motivation' and setting goals with their
clients.

I know that with The MAGIC Hundred, FITPRO's will
rekindle that passion again. Next, they will find
that their clients will achieve more. Not just
more, but faster too. They will be more driven,
more focused and more intent on success than
probably any other time in their lives because
they will have a time scale that adds urgency to
their goals and keeps them on track.

Sure, people will be a little dubious at first,
maybe downright skeptical but within DAYS of
starting the program they will see evidence that
will convince them to stick with their nutrition
and exercise plans and strive for greater results
in all areas of their lives. This will make the
work of all fitpro's so much easier because
rather than fighting a battle of wits and guile
with their clients as they try to bring about
adherence, they'll be co-conspirators in their
success strategy.

The Truth About Competition

In the Ultimate Fitness Professionals Business
Success System

(Shameless plug here)

http://www.fitnessbusinessrevolution.com/trial-offer.html

Alwyn Cosgrove and I talk about the topic of
competition.

Competition is going to be there - no matter
what type of business you have.

If you're starting a business based on the absence
of competition - don't bother starting a business.

See, AC and I were in 100% total agreement on
this: don't worry about competition.

Here's why:

::Most competitors aren't particularly good at
what they do.

::Competition will help build awareness in your
community.

::Competition helps to force you to step up your
game.

::It's always going to be there. Worry about what
you can control...not what you can't.

The bottom line: if you're great at what you do,
you'll whip all the competition.

This DOES NOT mean ignore the competition.

Far from it.

Study them.

Know them inside and out.

Then be better than them at everything you do.

Notice I didn't say be better than everything they
do.

Nope.

You can't be all things to all people - so for those
things you do choose to do - be extraordinary.

Then competition won't matter.

Dedicated to growing your business,

Pat

Achieving Your Goals

adsdsf,

Here's a question for you:

Where do you want to be at the end of next year,
and how will you get there? If you don't hesitate
with your answer, I'll bet you'll reach it. If
you can't directly answer the questions - next
year likely won't be any different than this
year. So let's break down the components in
setting crystal-clear goals.

Big-picture objective. What is the ultimate
goal?

Smaller objectives. What "checkpoints" do you
have along the way to measure yourself? Where do
you want to be at the end of next month, or next
quarter?

Specific tactics you must implement. What will
you do to reach the main and smaller objectives?
What must you change personally in order to have
a chance? How will you reward yourself when you
reach it?

Can you answer these questions?

If you're serious about having your best year
ever, I suggest you take some time to sit down
with the following questions. Think about your
answers. Challenge yourself. Write them down.

Then go to work!

What are you going to do to improve your fitness
and business knowledge this year?

How many inactive clients will you revive? What
do you need to do to make that happen?

What will you do to ensure you're protecting your
best clients and adding more value to those
relationships? Can you attract even more of their
business? How will you do that?

How many new clients will you bring on this year?
How do you plan to do that, specifically?

What will you do to improve your physical health
this year?

How much more money will you make this year? How
will that happen? What will you need to do,
today, to take the first steps in that
direction?

What will you need to do to increase that number
by an additional 10%?

What are you going to do every day to keep your
attitude at a high level?

How much time are you going to spend, daily, to
improve your own training and business skills?
What will you do?

How many referrals will you get this year? How
will you get them? From whom? What will you do to
turn them into new clients?

In which areas will you improve your personal,
family, and spiritual life?

How are you going to maximize the use of your
time? Where will you cut out the time-wasters in
each day?

What have you been putting off that you will take
care of within the next two weeks?

Who can you help to feel important every day?

What challenge, wish, or desire--that you've never
attempted before--will you finally achieve this
year? How will you do that? Why?

Where are you going to write all of this down so
you can review and revise your plans regularly?
What will it look like when you accomplish
everything you've just been thinking about? How
good will it feel?

Why couldn't you do all of this?

Any answer to that last one is not a reason, but
rather a self-imposed limitation, excuse, or lack
of desire or effort. The biggest deterrent to
success looks us in the mirror every day. Winning
at anything, especially building a business,
involves executing the fundamentals over and
over.
